City police bust fake passport racket

City police busted a fake passport racket and arrested four persons, including a contract employee of Bangalore One centre, for helping to get a passport for a man who was allegedly involved in the Times Bar shoot out on Residency Road in August.

The scam came to light during the investigation by Ashok Nagar police, who questioned Mohammed Anwar from Mangaluru, Anwar managed to get a passport using fake documents claiming that he was a resident of MICO Layout. Using the fake passport, Anwar travelled to Dubai to meet Rajesh alias Altaf, which whom he allegedly struck a deal to kill the bar owner. Anwar confessed that he paid Rs. 30,000 to get the passport. Further enquiries by the police revealed that the accused involved in the racket managed to get 25 fake passports issued so far.
