Man held on charge of trying to travel on fake passport

A 60-year-old man was arrested by the Valiyathura police from the airport here on Saturday after he made an attempt to travel to Saudi Arabia on a fake passport.

The police said the Nazimudeen, from Madavaoor, was apprehended at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport here by officials who detected that the passport was not genuine.

Nazimudeen was handed over to the Valiyathura police where the arrest was recorded.

The Valiyathura police said the accused had used the passport to travel to Saudi Arabia on previous occasions, too.

He was remanded after being produced before a local court.

The case would be handed over to the Crime Detachment wing of the City police.

Visa fraud

The Thampanoor police are on the lookout for Saji of Kadakkal, Kollam, who has been accused of visa fraud.

The accused allegedly cheated many people promising to get visas for them to various countries.

The police said they had received around 20 complaints against him.

The police said amount ranging from Rs.10,000 to Rs.20,000 were collected from visa applicants who approached his agency that functioned at the Mosque Lane in Thampanoor.

The case has been registered on the basis of complaints.

Police are on the lookout for youth from Kollam on charge of visa fraud; Thampanoor police receive around 20 complaints.
